Checked 17 October 2026 against Logitech’s company announcement of 23 September 2026. Document-based reporting; no mouse or firmware was tested.
The G502 X firmware news concerns a setting ceiling, not a measured improvement in your aim. Logitech names G502 X PLUS and G502 X LIGHTSPEED in its announcement of a 44,000 DPI maximum and independent X/Y sensitivity adjustments through G HUB. A reader who already owns one of those models should first identify the device and update state, rather than treating the event as a reason to buy a different mouse.
The Logitech G PLAY 2026 release combines existing-hardware firmware news with new-product announcements. Its G502 X paragraph is the source for the two model names and settings above. It does not document the firmware installed on your mouse, your game settings or a before-and-after result.
Which G502 do you actually have?
Copy the complete model designation from the device record. Keep PLUS and LIGHTSPEED where they form part of that name. “G502” in a used listing or a message from a seller is too broad to match this particular announcement.
If another model is offered, the correct conclusion is that this release does not establish its inclusion. That is a limit of the source, not a finding that the other model is incompatible or cannot receive any update. Ask for the manufacturer’s information for that exact device.
Use a three-line ownership note
| Field | Record | Keep unresolved if unknown |
|---|---|---|
| Device identity | Full mouse model and the source of that designation. | Whether a generic seller description refers to PLUS or LIGHTSPEED. |
| Installed state | Observed G HUB and firmware versions, with the observation date. | Whether the announced feature is present on this unit. |
| Actual task | The function you want: a higher ceiling, independent axes, or no change. | Any claimed benefit that has not been measured in that task. |
This is an editorial record template. We have not inspected a reader’s device or account, and blank fields should remain blank. A press release is not a substitute for the version shown in the actual product environment. Use Logitech’s instructions for that environment rather than guessing an installation procedure from the event headline.
A larger limit does not choose your setting
There are two separate decisions: whether a function is available, and whether you want to use it. A higher maximum does not oblige an owner to raise a familiar setting. Independent X/Y adjustment is also a different question from simply increasing both together. This report does not recommend a sensitivity value or claim a competitive advantage.
For a used purchase, ask the seller to identify the model and describe the relevant observed state. For an existing mouse, keep the current note before evaluating whether a newly announced option answers a real need. Neither case requires inventing a performance result to make the update sound important.
Evidence limit: The company announcement supports the named models and announced features. Individual rollout, installed versions, condition, price and improved accuracy have not been verified here. Other dated consumer announcements are filed under Product Updates.
